ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. The praises kept coming and the records kept falling for the Wayland Baptist track teams during performances Friday at the New Mexico Classic & Multis.

Wayland Baptist sprinters Monique McPherson and Kabroderan Handsborough again have been named Sooner Athletic Conference Indoor Track Athletes of the Week. They were honored following performances at last Friday's Pittsburg State Invitational in Kansas.

Monique McPherson never really set out to study at Wayland Baptist. Like many international athletes, she was looking for a place to hone her sport while earning a degree, and a Division I school was recruiting her for that purpose initially.
