LUBBOCK Newcomer Kabroderan Handsborough won the men's 55-meter dash and the Wayland Baptist women won the distance medley relay to help highlight performances for the Pioneers on the opening day of the indoor track and field season here Friday.

Coming off one of his most satisfying seasons as Wayland track and field coach, Rohan Thompson has a definite hop in his step as the Pioneers prepare to open the 2015 indoor season this weekend at the Texas Tech Open.

Wayland Baptist is slotted 27th at the conclusion of fall semester reporting in the 2014-15 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup NAIA standings.
